1.9 Friction

Posted by on September 4, 2013

In my more romantic moments, I think of us as a big family, but we’re kind of a dysfunctional one.

You can hardly be surprised. Most of us have lost our loved ones, and we’re all cut off from our people. One evening, Adelle and Jesse had an enormous fight. I don’t know what it was about.

The next morning, Adelle took out her pent up rage on the sandcastles she and I had built the day before. Adelle is such a quiet, gentle girl that it frightened me to see this side of her.

But by that night, the two of them talked things out. From that day forward, they seemed to share a bond.

They would sometimes spend entire afternoons working on their personal projects in companionable silence.

Rosalyn is an odd child, and I worry about her. She seems to be perpetually lonely but wary of letting any of us get close.

I worry about her, and I do my best to draw her out in a nonthreatening way.

I am still a terrible cook. I admit it.

I haven’t talked to Jesse much. I guess, to be honest, I’m kind of avoiding him. It seems like if we start talking, I’ll have to face things I’m just not ready for. We’re the adults here, and we have three children to care for. That’s all I can think about now.

Adelle and Timi, on the other hand, seem to be seeing each other for the first time.

Awww, poor Rosalyn… being the only one her age must make her feel terribly loney. I'm glad there are no bigger (or permanent)fights within the group, though. That would be tough as long as they are a community as small as this one…

Actually, the real problem is that Jesse gets Lunacy on the full moon. He always wants to slap Adelle, though. So far nobody else, and no Lunatic Embraces. I need to find a story justification for Lunacy.

Rosalyn is a bit unwound, I'm afraid.

Oh! That really sucks. Good luck figuring out how you can put that into the story… I'm sure you'll think of something 🙂

Awww. I, for one, am very happy with the developments between Adelle and Timi. They are absolutely ADORABLE together. I feel sorry for Rosalyn though, it's hard to feel like the odd one out in the family. Hopefully, Echo will be able to draw her out in time. Speaking of Echo, she should really speak to Jesse and tell him how she feels, and about her feelings for Terrance. He'll probably understand. Just not on a full moon though!

As for the full moon lunacy moodlet. Maybe it could be some kind of mental disability that he previously took tablets for. There are no pharmacies on the island and no way to medicate! Arya still gets it all the time, but she's more of a lover than a fighter, if you know what I mean?

Timi and Adelle are so cute together!

Could the lunacy be PTSD of some sort? Is Jesse a refugee?
